WHAT A YEAR.
If you had told me in December of 2013 that the future held:
- 5 new states to add to the list
- 3 stunning national parks
- 2 countries in SE Asia
- 1 hot and humid US territory
- an upcoming three-month trip to Italy
…I would have told you that life doesn’t happen in countdown lists, and WHAT ITALY, and basically would have thought you were crazy. Oh, 2013 me. You have so much to look forward to.
And the cool thing is that this all kind of fell together on its own.
Like the summer roadtrip, for example. I knew I was going to Nepal and Bhutan, so I left my summer open. Then penpal accepted my proposal to go to the Grand Canyon with me (scribbled in hot pink gel pen in a PS note with an accompanying doodle). Then Vegas happened, then Zion got thrown in there, and why the heck not hike Half Dome?!The Virgin Islands was a half-formulated decision (made on the kitchen counter, eating macaroni and cheese, talking with the BFF), then the fact that I wasn’t moving there was more formulated but also last-minute decision, and now I’m packing up my suitcase to move to Italy in ten days. I think what I’m realizing is that nothing ever works out as planned (especially when you don’t really have plans…heh). But sometimes what’s in store is even better than what you had planned (or could have even imagined) (ITALY), and there’s no way to tell what’s going to happen (ITALY). So basically, I’m super excited for 2015. And 2014 rocked. In fact, I even made a video about the roadtrippin’ part. It features all of the national parks and Vegas and a whole lotta Penpal (I had to film somebody slash umm hello Mr. Photogenic) and, of course, yours truly. Enjoy! : )
